| A Note From The Pastor |
What is our Mission Statement? I have been going around asking folks if they can say our mission statement from memory. We have had so much together as some express it with assurance and gusto while others squirm in their seats. The mission statement is our understanding and expression of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), and is the elementary part of our church wide direction. I may be asking you soon, so be ready!
Thanks to those who work in the kitchen! On behalf of the whole church, I express our gratitude to the regular kitchen team and occasional volunteers who work so hard in preparing meals for us. They work hard with little recognition. Why? Because they love what they do, it’s a place they can serve, and it’s an expression of their love for God. Thank you kitchen team for all you do for us.
Connect – Reconnect to the church. Please return your connect – reconnect cards to the church if you haven’t already done so. If you did not receive them or If you need new ones, please call the church office, and we will send them right away.
Do you really believe in prayer? This is a question worth some honest reflection. Ask any person who attends church regularly this, and they will answer with an absolute affirmative. Therefore, I am calling you on it. Every Wednesday between 6pm and 7pm, you can join the church community in prayer at the prayer chapel. Come anytime during this hour, stay as long as you like, and go when you need to. In Acts chapter 2, we witness a community who devoted themselves to praying together, and it shook the foundation of the world. What if it happened again……….
Happy Thanksgiving. Every year I try to come up with a new way of saying this. I have written about thanks – thanks to God, thanks for family, thanks for friends, and thanks for the church. I have asked people to reflect on thanks, and have asked real original questions like, “What are you thankful for?” I have also written about giving. Giving to God, giving to family, giving to friends, and giving to the church. Lest we forget, “It’s more blessed to give than receive.” From turkeys, pilgrims, Indians, feasts, corn, pumpkin pie, to family gatherings, favorite stories, afternoon football games, and full bellies, I’ve included it all. And honestly, I don’t think anyone remembers any of those writings – not that they were worth remembering. So this year I’m changing it up. I’m not writing about happy, thanks, or giving. I simply say to you what I saw on the rearend of a turkey hanging over a doorway – Happy Thanksgiving!!
United in Christ,
Pastor Kent
