| A Note From The Pastor |
Treasure discovery. Friendship First small groups continue to meet, and experience tremendous success. Prior to the first meeting one group of people were total strangers. By the third meeting they were laughing, joking, and sharing as though they have known each other all their lives. The more they are getting together, the more their lives are being enriched. This blesses God. I quote a Jewish saying, “He/she who finds a faithful friend, finds a treasure.” The discoveries happening right now through building new friendships in the church are worth far more than all the gold you could put in a chest.
Welcome back Seasonal Saints. The next couple months our friends will be descending from above (the North). Let’s extend our warmest welcome to new and returning folks. If you are returning, welcome back to sunshiny Florida and to St. John’s United Methodist Church. Be sure to get involved in a small group and Sunday school class right away. There are many to choose from. Also, check in with the Prime Timers for all the cool activities being planned.
Charge conference date set for Sunday, November 11,
“A fully devoted disciple would be intimate with God and other Christians, people who grow in their faith, and are servants in the kingdom of God.” This is how one of God’s churches defines the meaning of a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus looked at His disciples before He ascended to the right hand of the Father and entrusted the work of the Kingdom to them. “Go and make disciples,” and they did. The disciples went out and made other disciples. Since then, the commission of Christ has been passed down and entrusted to every nation, tribe, group, generation, and church. And now, entrusted to the people of St. John’s United Methodist Church is the commission to Go and make disciples. This is our time and season. Thank you, Lord, for letting us join in Your work. Baptize us with Your Holy Spirit that we may go out in power to help people become faithful believers. In Jesus name. Amen.
God bless you and keep you
