Jeanne Icenhour publishes book. Our very own Jeanne Icenhour shares the road her and Larry traveled during his illness. The book is titled, “At First You Cry: Our Faith Journey Through Cancer”, and is scheduled to be released on October 9th, 2007. Here is what the publisher writes, "Through this series of heartfelt e-mails entitled At First You Cry: Our Faith Journey Through Cancer, we have the opportunity to walk hand in hand with this remarkable couple on their faith journey as they travel from their home in Winter Haven, Florida, to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, from their safely planned future to terrifyingly uncertain waters. ....Their unwavering faith is an undeniable witness and inspiration to others facing similar circumstances, as well as anyone confronted with adversity or overwhelmed by life’s challenges."
Prayer teams are praying now. Many small group prayer teams are meeting together to pray specifically for the needs of the church and its ministries. Each prayer team is assigned one ministry target, and they receive requests from that ministry leader. In addition, the prayer teams are praying for volunteers God wants in that particular ministry and that each ministry be guided by the Holy Spirit to accomplish God’s purposes. There is no greater power in all the world than the power of prayer. We’re counting on our prayer teams to storm the gates of heaven on behalf of St. John’s’ ministries.
Needy people experience the transforming power of God. St. John’s helped many people in need over the summer through the WearHouse. Your donations of clothes and other items really helps. Receive even more blessings by helping an hour or two at the Wearhouse. Peanut Butter Sunday fed many hungry families, and project love continues to meet earthly needs. Experiencing the transforming power of God is what we’re about at St. John’s United Methodist Church.
Those with “gift of giving” step up to the plate. There are many spiritual gifts, and some have the gift of giving. Many of you were able to go above and beyond your regular giving by using your spiritual gift of giving. Combined you gave over $11,000 towards a $67,000 shortfall. Thank you. I’m still confident there is someone holding back of using their gift of giving, and will write a check for the remaining amount so God will be glorified by meeting the goal.
