To be a community in mission.

CORE VALUES

core values

Parameters that guide the decisions, priorities, and behaviors of our church as we carry out the mission

Worship  We are a people who seek after God’s real and personal presence in our lives through great worship experiences.

  1. Biblical Reference; John 4:23-24 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.  God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Spiritual Growth  Because we are followers of Jesus Christ, we make every effort to grow and mature into fully devoted disciples.

  1. Biblical Reference: 2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen”

Service   We believe God wants us to discover, develop and deploy our unique gifts from the Holy Spirit and use them in ministry.

  1. Biblical reference: 1 Peter 4:10 "Each one, as a manager of God's different gifts, must use for the good of others, the special gift he has received from God.”

All people matter to God  We believe God challenges us to reach out in mission and evangelistic efforts on both a local and global scale offering a path for others to discover Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

  1. Biblical Reference: Romans 10:13-14 "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.. But who can ask Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him?  And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?”

Prayer  Prayer was an important part of Jesus’ life, and there is nothing more vital for our Christian life than prayer.

  1. Biblical reference: Philippians 4:6  “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Welcoming  We believe the Christian life compels us to intentionally welcome all people, therefore we use the ten-foot rule to greet anyone who is within ten feet of you.

  1. Biblical Reference: Hebrews 13:2 “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.”

Reconciliation We believe reconciliation is one of God’s most precious gifts given to us, therefore we use The Matthew 18 Principle when handling offenses and complaints.

Biblical Reference: 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 “All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them.

The Methodist Way

The key characteristics that we expect to see in the lives of people who are fully participating in the mission of our church.  They are also characteristics we expect to see in every ministry of the church.

Passionate Worship  We gather deliberately, seeking an encounter with God in Christ, to live in openness and obedience to God’s presence, and to offer back to God with gratitude every aspect of our lives as an act of worship.

Intentional Discipling  We intentionally live lives that are increasingly transformed by the Holy Spirit and shaped by the example and teaching of Jesus Christ.  This mainly happens through Bible studies, Sunday school classes, short-term topical studies, and support groups that apply our faith to particular life challenges.

Salty Service  Our service that stretches us in and out of our comfort zone and has us engaging people and offering ourselves to ministries that we would never have done if not for our desire to follow Christ.  The work people do to make a positive difference in the lives of others for the purposes of Christ, whether or not they will ever be part of the community of faith.

Radical Hospitality   We actively desire to invite, welcome, receive, and care for those who are strangers so that they find a spiritual home and discover for themselves the unending richness of life in Christ.

Extravagant Generosity We practice sharing and giving that exceeds all expectations and extends to unexpected measures.  Every scriptural example of giving is extravagant, and churches that practice Extravagant Generosity teach, preach, and practice the tithe.
